The only excuse for having Fabbro or Harpuer on the PK is if one of the other four D-men is the guy in the box. Having them both out on the PK as often as they were is simply TERRIBLE coaching, and so is inserting a virtual statue in the lineup just because the coach likes him because he's big.
I don't like Hynes or his system. I'm trying to give the guy a chance, and I'm not going to jump off the roof over one game, but my patience for Hynes is going to stay razor thin. I tried to be somewhat optimistic about the off-season moves, though I had some trepidation that Poile was prioritizing players who might fit Hynes' system over talent... Including the draft. It's fine for a coach to have a system... It's fine to build a team suited for that system, and lean on players willing to buy into that system. It's also the coaches job to put his players in positions to succeed, rather than writing them off because they don't fit your grand plan. (Like Arvy last season) Good coaches adapt, bad coaches try to smash square pegs into round holes.
Is it just me, or in over 22 years of being a Preds fans, has this team always had issues burying scoring chances? This wasn't just a last night thing, this has been am issue for two decades. Is there something about the Smilodon on the front of the jersey that creates coordination issues with the puck and the stick? Scoring is supposed to hard, but this teams ability to make putting the puck in the back of the net look difficult rivals no other. |
